Vocal Music
Belle Voce
 
Grade Level: 11-12 girls
Duration: Once per day during regular class period.
Description: Belle Voce, which means beautiful voice, is an auditioned girls group. They will sing advanced women’s literature of all styles and cultures. They will select an outfit, which each member will have to purchase.  
Requirements: Audition
Performances/Competitions: All vocal concerts. Other possible competitions or festivals.
Director: Mr. Ritter
Getting Involved: Contact vocal director for audition times.
Classmen
Grade Level: 9-12 boys
Duration: All Year
Practices: Once per day during regular class period.
Description: Students will rehearse and perform medium to advanced men’s choral literature. Emphasis on the male changing voice.  
Performances/Competitions: All scheduled vocal concerts. Other possible festivals or concerts.
Director: Mr. Ritter

Concert Choir
Grade Level: 10-12 boys, 10-12 girls
Duration: All year, full credit academic course.
Practices: Once per day during regular class period
Description: This advanced singing class performs in many concerts and competitions. They prepare music for the All-State auditions and will perform a variety of advanced choral literature including sacred, secular, jazz, popular and foreign language pieces. Members of this group are eligible for New World Singers and other small choral groups not rehearsing during the day.  
Requirements: Prior participation in the Belle Voce, Classmen or treble choir is suggested, but not required. Every member must audition to be admitted into this group.  
Performances/Competitions: Fall, Winter, and Spring Concert, District Music Contest, Spectrum in Sound and other selected special concerts.  
Director: Mr. Ritter
Getting Involved: Auditions will be announced. Contact vocal director.
Handbell Choir
Grade Level: 9-12
Duration: All year
Practices: 1-2 hours per week.
Description: Select group of players that will form an advanced performing group.
Requirements: Must be enrolled in a vocal group
Performances/Competitions: Vocal Concerts, District Music Contest.
Director: Ms. Wurdeman
Getting Involved: Auditions in the fall. Contact vocal director and/or Ms. Wurdeman.
New World Singers
Grade Level: 10-12 boys, 10-12 girls
Duration: All year, full credit academic course.
Practices: Once per day during regular class period
Description: New World Singers is an advanced vocal performing group with an emphasis in jazz style. They will work for a high level of vocal quality, pitch, part singing accuracy, and stage presence. Members will purchase their own outfits.  
Requirements: Must be a member of another choir to participate in New World Singers.
Performances/Competitions: Performances may include as many as 20-30 performances and competitions per year.  
Director: Mr. Ritter
Getting Involved: Auditions are in the early spring for the following year. Contact vocal director for exact times and audition materials.  
Treble Choir
Grade Level: 9-12 girls
Duration: 1 or 2 semesters, full credit academic course.
Practices: Once per day during regular class period.
Description: Treble Choir is open to any girl in the high school. All 9th grade girls will begin with this class as a preliminary to other singing groups. Fundamentals of tone production, part singing and musical notation are stressed. This group will study and perform a wide variety of music appropriate for the young female voice.  
Performances/Competitions: All vocal concerts and other special concerts.
Director: Mr. Ritter

Instrumental Music
Concert Band  
Grade Level: 9-12
Duration: All year
Practices: Once per day during regular class period.
Description: Students in concert band will learn to become more proficient on their instruments through use of regular practice, and by being exposed to higher grade-level music.  
Requirements: Concert band is open to all students who have been in band during elementary and middle school.  
Performances/Competitions: Marching band performs in fall. Concerts in winter and spring and other events as scheduled by director.

Jazz Band
Grade Level: 9-12
Duration: All year
Practices: One class period per day
Description: Seventeen to twenty member performance group that consists of the following instrumentation: 2 alto saxes; 2 tenor saxes, 1 baritone sax; 4-5 trumpets; 4 trombones; trap set, keyboards; bass and lead guitars. The ensemble is exposed to popular and contemporary styles of music consisting of Jazz, Swing, Rock, Blues and New Age Music.  
Requirements: Audition
Performances/Competitions: As scheduled by director, usually in winter and spring.
Director: Mr. Peabody
Getting Involved: Contact band director.
Additional Information: Students purchase Jazz Band outfits for performances and competitions.  
Marching Band
Grade Level: 9-12
Duration: August - October
Practices: Marching Band Camp during first and second weeks in August. Marching Band practice daily from 6:45-8:00 A.M. during fall quarter.  
Description: Performs at all home football games and competes in parades and competitions.  
Requirements: Open audition for seating. Those who have a positive, cooperative attitude, regardless of their individual skill, will always have a place in the organization.  
Performances/Competitions: As scheduled by director. Marching contests end of September though October and all home varsity football games.  
Director: Mr. Peabody
Getting Involved: Contact band director.
Additional Information: $15 fee to cover clinicians and drill design.
Symphonic Band
Grade Level: 9-12
Duration: All year - both semesters
Practices: Once per day during regular class period.
Description: Symphonic band is an audition group. Upper level students will comprise this ensemble. Experienced/more proficient students will be selected from grades 9-12 to be in this group. More challenging music will be performed by this ensemble, providing the student greater opportunity to excel on his/her instrument.

Fall Color Guard
Grade Level: 9-12
Duration: August - October
Practices: Daily 6:45-8:00 A.M.
Description: Color Guard is an auxiliary unit that accentuates the High School marching band’s performances/competitions. Members are required to attend all daily regularly scheduled rehearsals(6:45-8:00) and any other additional rehearsals called by the director. Members need to be coordinated in order to perform flag routines while continuously moving to different coordinates during field competition drill.  
Requirements: Auditions
Performances/Competitions: Perform with the marching band at home football games, parades and marching competitions.  
Director: Mr. Peabody
Getting Involved: Auditions are held in late March. Contact band director.
Additional Information: Maximum number is 24 students. Members pay for their own outfits. A $15 fee to cover marching band show design and clinicians will be assessed.
