MISSION
The mission of the library media program is to ensure
that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.
This mission is accomplished:
* by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats
* by providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest
in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas
* by working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet
the needs of individual students.

VOLUNTEERS
Parents of West Park students and community members assist in library
tasks on a volunteer basis. Tasks they perform include assisting
students locate materials, checking materials in and out, and returning
materials to their shelves. Anyone interested in volunteering may
contact the media center staff.
HOURS
The media center is open all days of student attendance from 8:00 a.m.
- 4:00 p.m. for checkout of materials. Classes in information literacy
are taught on a flexible schedule. The times are set up with the classroom
teacher during the subject being taught.
RULES OF THE LIBRARY
The rules are based on respect:
1. RESPECT others
2. RESPECT yourself, and
3. RESPECT school property
Students are given a warning if they break one of these rules. If a second
infracation occurs, students may be asked to leave the library. |
