West Park Fall Concert

West Park third and fourth graders are working hard for their fall concert titled Pajama Party! This year’s concert will feature songs that are all about bedtime and sleeping.

 Date: November 16th, 2021

Location: Nantkes Auditorium at Columbus Middle School

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Fourth graders will be singing a musical revue about how bedtime can be a blast. The musical is composed and written by Cristi Cary Miller and Jay Michael Ferguson. Students will be singing 5 songs with speaking parts in between each one telling a fun story for the audience to hear. The songs included are;

  • Pajama Party
  • Marching Orders
  • Cozy Special Friend
  • Under My Bed
  • A Lullaby for Me

During the concert we will be showcasing some of West Parks brand new instruments. Thanks to our kind administration, West Park received a whole collection of new instruments this year. We received a wide variety of instruments, but the ones to be featured in the concert will be our new hand drums, maracas, sand blocks, and tambourines.

Third graders will be keeping with the bedtime theme. They will have their own collection of 5 bedtime and sleeping songs. The songs to be sung by 3rd graders will be;

  • Grandma’s Feather Bed
  • I Can’t Wait to Hibernate
  • Frere Jaques
  • Edelweiss
  • So Long Farewell

 The third-grade concert will include 6 students accompanying their classmates by playing a melody pattern on the xylophones, as well as some featured soloists performing.

In the past the third graders have performed with the fourth graders at West Park, as well as the rest of the school having a concert on the same night. This year will look different with third and fourth graders having their concert on their own night, and singing different songs.

The reason for this switch was due to the new pacing guide implemented by the district music teachers this year. The larger schools in the district can’t fit more than one grade on the stage at a time, as well as not being able to fit the whole school in the audience at the Nantkes Auditorium. This has caused West Park to adjust to be in line with all other schools in the district.

At West Park we know that our students will not be shaken by this change and will rise to the occasion. We have all the confidence that our students will sing with large and wonderful voices. All the information for the concert is listed below.
