Functional Capacity Study

After last spring's community meetings to get feedback on dealing with District growth, a decision was made to work with DLR and Associates to conduct a functional capacity study.
Unlike a general capacity study that takes total square feet divided by the allowable number expected per student to determine capacity, a functional capacity looks at programming for each space and then calculates capacity of that space. This will assist CPS in determining the true student capacity of a building, as well as, analyzing how space is used for programming.
The study is expected to be presented to the school board at the October 12th meeting as part of making the best possible decision on what may need to be addressed.
I will release the study and the Board of Education's plans through my "Discoverer Community Connect" in the coming weeks.
