‘It’s great to be back at CMS’

CMS welcomed a large 5th-grade class at our 5th grade orientation nights on August 19 and 20. Nearly 85 percent of the 5th-grade students and a parent attended before school started.   On August 24th, when we welcomed students back to school, we had less than 1 percent of our students arrive without a mask.  Those few that did gladly accepted a disposable mask so they could get to class.  It was clear our students were excited to get back to school.

This year we have 175 students participating in 7th and 8th-grade volleyball and football.  This is a larger number of students than in the past.  Our athletes train in masks but are willing to do this to be back to school and participate in athletics.  Also, one hundred percent of our after school program spots were filled on the first day of registration.  CMS students continue to show us how much they want to be back to doing the things they enjoy. Despite having many restrictions, our students have been troopers and have shown they are willing to do what it takes to stay in school.  It is great to be back!
