For the Winter sports season all players and coaches are limited to a maximum of two household guests depending on the venue that they’re playing in and there is no student section for the month of December as well as no pep band. The administration will reevaluate the ability to have the student section and pep band during Christmas break. This means that the teams will have to be here relying on their own teammates to bring the energy into their games as they will have less people to rely on for energy.

This year when it comes to the bowling team there are a lot of unknowns especially as this year is the first year of bowling being an NSAA sanctioned sport but their goals from the coaches side of things is to go to state right off the bat and really start a dynasty powerhouse. The bowlers' eyes are also turned to the opening match when all eyes are on them for the first time as they’re no longer playing for a club team but playing for the school and city of Columbus.

The swim team went back to the basics last year but with a lot of returning members this year they were able to get right back to it this year with a lot of great seniors and some promising freshmen. They made a lot of progress last year and are extremely positive coming into this year with all the confidence they have, they are definitely ready to go for some medals.

When it comes to the girls basketball team they have had a lot of great practices this year and have a ton of varsity experience returning. It is also the first time since 2012 that they will have a full class A schedule. With plenty of leadership, communication, and chemistry, size doesn’t matter to them. They think they can go far this year but they need to stay calm, roll with the punches, and stay consistent for a shot at state.

For the boys basketball team, the ending to the previous season did not sit well with them, as the team had plenty of talent but just came up short in Kearney. So this year they are definitely thankful just to have the opportunity to play through COVID and with a whole new coach the team has to learn a whole new system. This is definitely an athletic squad but smaller than other teams. They are ready to get out there and just take it one game at a time and are ready for the challenge of creating their own energy for games with limited attendance.

Thankful and excited is the wrestling team this year as they are also an experienced and high-energy team returning varsity wrestlers from last year and they have a bunch of behind-the-scenes wrestlers and important freshmen replacing the seniors that graduated last year. This year as they are ready to go, it’s all about performing at their very best in hopes of replicating last year.
