Columbus Public Schools will move to Tier 2 “YELLOW,” model beginning January 4th and ending January 29th.  We are asking parents, students, and extended family members and friends to continue to use the universal precautions to ensure we remain in school all day every day.

January 4th - January 29th (Link to school year calendar & January calendar):

  • Students will report to school Monday thru Friday for in-person learning with regular early dismissal on Wednesdays.

  • After school programs will be available at the 5 elementary schools & CMS Monday-Friday.

  • All CPS students will continue to receive the free lunch and breakfast program until the end of the current school year.  Reminder:  Additional entrees from the regular lunch line, milk and ala carte (CMS/CHS) are an additional fee.  If you have not already done so be sure to activate your wordware account.  With this account you can see all of your student(s)' charges and can pay bills online.  If you are having issues activating your account please contact Julie Reiff, 402-563-7000.

We appreciate our staff's hard work to make coming to school a success this first semester.  Since the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, there have been many challenges, but the CPS staff have met those challenges amazingly.  With that, we thank our teachers, administrators, and all of our support staff for all of their hard work.

We know that in-person learning is the best way for students to learn and the best option for their social emotional well-being.  We believe that with going back to yellow, along with our community committing to the 3 C’s outlined by the governor and state health professionals, that we can continue to stay in school.

All students will continue to be in school each day under the same protocols, procedures and guidance.

  1. Parents and students will continue with home screenings including taking temperature.

  2. Masks are still required of all staff and students.

  3. Social Distancing will continue to be a priority.

  4. No visitors other than by appointments for students are allowed.

  5. We will continue to limit the number of spectators at activities to family members.  New CHS Activities protocols will be released on December 28th that will go into effect on January 4th.  CHS and CMS students will continue to livestream as many activities as possible.

  • December 23,2020 - January 1, 2021 there is No School for students.  Students return to school on January 4, 2021.
  • January 11, 2021 there is No School for students.

We continue to evaluate our staffing and student absences to determine our next steps. Be reminded that if the district does go to “ORANGE,” students would be in school every other day.  If we have to move to “RED,” most students may not be in attendance within our facilities.
