Patience, creativity and something students can take home with them.
North Park counselor Trina Gentile has a good idea of what it takes to get a lesson through to students.
"You need to be able to grab the attention of your kindergartner, but then also to meet your fourth grader as well; and that might be in the same hour," she said. "Usually, I try and send (students) home with something they can talk to parents about. ... I always encourage them to go and talk with somebody at home about what we're talking about."
