Columbus Public Schools Spring 2021 Activity Guidelines

Columbus High School, in conjunction with the NSAA, East Central Health District, and Columbus Public Schools Administration is requiring the following of schools, officials, and spectators for all spring season contests starting March 18, 2021:

Spectators:

  • Spectators are asked to self-screen before coming to the contest and if COVID-19 symptoms are present, stay home.

  • Spectators are required to wear face coverings at all times.

  • Face coverings must cover the nose and mouth. 

  • Spectators are asked to sit 6 feet apart from non-family members.

  • Please bring exact change - $6 for adults and $4 for students.

  • Concession stands will be available.

  • No outside food or drink allowed.

  • Event capacity for indoor and outdoor activities is 75% with social distancing.

  • At the completion of the contest, all spectators are asked to leave in a timely manner.  Please do not congregate following the completion of the contest.

Coaches/Participants:

  • Coaches/spectators are asked to self-screen before coming to the contest and if COVID-19 symptoms are present, stay home.

  • Coaches and non-active participants are required to wear face coverings at all times.

  • Face coverings must cover the nose and mouth.

  • Active participants in a rigorous activity are permitted, but not required, to wear face coverings during competition/performance/event.

  • Each team/individual is encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer.

  • Coaches should limit the number of players/game personnel on each bench to allow for social distancing..

  • Team benches are limited to coaches, players, and essential game staff only.

  • Participants/Teams are required to bring their own water bottles/containers.

  • No shaking of hands/fist bumps prior to or following the completion of the contest.

  • At the completion of the game/contest, all team members/coaches are asked to leave in a timely manner.  Please do not congregate following the completion of the game.

Spring Officials

  • Officials are asked to self-screen before coming to the contest and if COVID-19 symptoms are present, stay home.

  • Required to wear a face covering while entering and exiting the facility and during a coach/official/player meeting. It is recommended to wear a facial covering during the competition when appropriate.  All facial coverings should be one solid color and not distracting. 

  • Bring personal hand sanitizer and sanitize hands frequently. 

  • To the extent possible, maintain six feet minimum distance while officiating and when talking to others (players, coaches, other officials) at pre/post game meetings. 

  • Do not shake hands and follow pre and post-game ceremony guidelines. 

  • Come to the facility dressed and ready.  Official dressing rooms may be available based on the competition venue.
