Miranda

I am Miranda Mason. I went to college at Peru State College. This is my 9th year teaching. I taught first grade for 6 years and second grade for 2 years. This is my first year teaching preschool. I just moved back to the Columbus area. I lived in Missouri for the last 10 years. My husband’s name is Isaac and we have been married for 7 years. We have 1 cat and 3 dogs.

I have enjoyed watching my students grow so much from when I started in October. They do a really good job sitting and participating during circle time. They also have learned how to solve problems during centers with little to no assistance! They also have shown me that they are learning letter names and sounds. My favorite part of the school day is greeting my kids at the door. I love getting their hugs and high fives. I am able to see how they are doing from the moment they walk into the classroom.

We are currently learning about gardens and we will wrap up the school year in this unit. My kids' favorite unit so far was the "buildings" unit. They enjoyed building houses and having the big bad wolf come and blow their houses down. My favorite unit so far would be our garden unit. I enjoy watching the students learn about how plants grow and the different parts of plants. They are making different flower arrangements in the science area. They also were able to plant a sunflower and watch it grow until summer break!

My paras are Ms. Selena, Ms. Yoselin, and Ms. Krista. They are all so amazing! I can say very confidently that I could not do this without them! I have never had paras in my classroom before and teaching preschool was very different for me. I have learned so much. I am very happy to have this team. I appreciate all of the things they do in and out of the classroom to help our days run smoothly.

I enjoy the teachers I work with! I came into being a preschool teacher without any preschool experience. The teachers have supported me so much with ideas and lesson plans to help my year be successful. I couldn’t have done this without them!
