Year Starts Strong
Reflecting on the beginning of the 2025–26 school year, Dr. Kay shared a positive outlook.
"It's been a good start," he said. "As always, I'm appreciative of the staff that we have in our school district. They do they do great work. "We're excited to, to keep up, all the good things going on in Columbus."
Bond Announcement
Columbus Public Schools will move forward with a bond election this fall to fund the construction of a new intermediate school for 4th and 5th grade students. Superintendent Dr. Chip Kay announced the news during a September 9, interview on KLIR’s Community Spotlight.

“At the board of education meeting on September 8th, the board passed the resolution for a November 4th bond election,” Dr. Kay said. “I believe it will be a mail-in election according to the election commissioner, when we talked last.”
The proposed $43.6 million bond would cover all costs associated with building and opening the new 4–5 intermediate campus.
“The bond will be for about $43 million, and that would be to just complete everything from turning the first shovel of dirt to unlocking the door and letting kids in for a 4 or 5 intermediate building.”
