To get ready, they welcomed Mayor Jim Bulkley, who read to them and shared insights about Nebraska’s unicameral legislature and his role as mayor. Now, they’re excited and prepared for their visit. Our Centennial 1st graders have been learning about astronomy in reading. Students got to experience outer space up close by observing a meteorite! The students were surprised to find out just how heavy the meteorite was and that the iron inside makes it magnetic.
Gold Coin Week is a fun and rewarding time to provide an extra incentive that celebrates students' positive actions. This month the students with the most gold coins in each class were rewarded with frosting cookies!
We were fortunate to welcome Ms. Alayna Wilson, author and current Miss Douglas County, to read to our fourth grade students. Ms. Wilson read her own book, Unlocking Your SuperPower, about a young boy who prevails in facing his own fears.
