Columbus Public Schools is proud to announce that Mr. Adam Whitmore, teacher at Columbus High School has been named the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year by the Association for Career and Technical Education of Nebraska (ACTEN).
Mr. Whitmore has been an educator at Columbus High School for 17 years. In his classroom, he emphasizes real-world applications, providing students with valuable opportunities to see how their work connects directly to industry practices.
Under his leadership, Mr. Whitmore’s SkillsUSA Mechatronics teams have earned national recognition, winning first place in Mechatronics in both 2023 and 2024, and placing second in 2021 and 2022. The 2025 Mechatronics team has also qualified for nationals and will compete later this month.
"Mr. Whitmore is a dedicated professional and a passionate advocate for CTE programs at CHS," stated Dave Hiebner, principal of Columbus High School. "He works tirelessly to ensure the success of all CTE initiatives, both in and out of the classroom. His expertise and commitment keep Columbus High School at the forefront of CTE instruction and innovation."
