🗺️ Our 7th grade geographers have been busy this week! Students practiced analyzing maps to identify location, keys, symbols, scale, grids, and more. Now, they’re putting their learning into action by creating maps of their own—complete with all the essential elements.

✏️📐 The Maroon 5 math students are off to a flying start this school year! 🚀 They’ve been busy classifying two-dimensional shapes and building a strong foundation for the exciting math challenges ahead.



💡✨ Students in Mr. Solamillo’s Language Arts class dove into the fascinating world of Bionic Superhumans!
As part of their learning, they teamed up for an activity called “Bionic Body: Design and Narrative.” Each group designed a unique bionic technology for a fictional character of their choice, then wrote a creative narrative exploring the physical, emotional, and social changes their character experienced.

🚗💥 Our 8th grade science students have been exploring the science of collisions! Today, they wrapped up a hands-on lab by crashing vehicles on a track and observing the results. Each car had a different type of bumper, and students compared how the impacts changed with each design. 🧪🔬

5th Grade science students are kicking off the year by exploring “Nurse Logs.” Nurse Logs are fallen trees that become a home and a source of life for other living things. Today, they investigated what lives in, on, and around these fascinating logs.
This hands-on exploration launches our new unit on Matter and Energy Cycling. We can’t wait to see what our students discover next! 🌱🐞🍄

CPS will host 3 upcoming meeting to discuss CPS' Response to Growth. Topics will include process, solution and timeline. The first meeting will be a Facebook Live session on August 27th at 6:30pm. We will then host a Facebook Live session on September 3rd at 12:00pm followed by an in-person opportunity at CHS at 6:30 pm in the Concert Hall. Interpretation will be available.

The 7th grade language arts classes started the school year participating in the "Joy of Language" stations. Mad Libs, short stories, and make your own bookmarks! Ask your student about his or her favorite station to start the year!

Our 5th-graders caught those first day feelings! It was pizza in the lunchroom and to the track for ALO time for new group! We welcome all students back -- grades 5th through 8th -- on August 14th. Classes begin at 8 a.m. and dismiss at 3:30 p.m.!
