"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom" could dampen the spirits of our Crusaders Friday afternoon! Students were "blown away" by all the fun activities Coach K. planned for this year's field day. Students participated in events such as: "Drip, Drip, Drench &
Fill the Bucket"; "Softball Throw, Tug of War, & Long Jump"; "Cornhole, Ladder Toss, & Ring Toss"; and
"Spoon & Egg Race, 3 Legged Race, & Potato Sack Race." Way to go everyone!!!
TO BE CONTINUED...

This week’s Eyewitness is Kristin Jones, our media aide and tech expert. Throughout the school day she can be found all through the school. She helps students get work done, answers our tech questions, and helps students needing a little extra support. Ms.Jones is also a part of our breakfast crew here at school. Thank you Ms.Jones for everything you do here at Emerson.

We find some of our fourth grade paraeducators busy helping students learn to proofread their stories. Students in both classes were assigned the task of writing the rough draft of a story, having a partner proofread their story, and then students completed their final copy.
Also, our paras have the opportunity to spend recess with our students. Whether they are reffing a soccer game, or watching students on the playground both our paras and students enjoy they unstructured time they get to spend with each other!

Our third graders are still hard at work this last week of school!
Students with Mrs. Warth & Mrs. Knerl celebrate the end of the school year by decorating sugar cookies.
Mrs. Marxsen has been busy sorting books to give to the third graders so they can continue practicing their reading skills over the summer.
Ms. Wielgus and a group of students review measurements, and take a math test.
Mr. Dobbs reviews story problems with students focusing on liquid measurements.
Tune in tomorrow to see how our fourth grade paraeducators help our fourth grade students thrive!

On this week's episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We will be featuring our "upstairs paraeducators (a.k.a. 3rd and 4th grade)!" Some may argue these paras might have it tougher than the kindergarten paras, but our students make the jobs of our paraeducators a breeze!
Tune in throughout the week to see these wonderful VVIPs in action :)

Mark your calendars! As the school year is coming to an end CPS is pleased to announce that the Summer Lunch Program will be offered June 2-July 25, 2025.

Join us and end the school year with field day and a Pick Up Party.

Today at Emerson, we welcomed some very special guests. Grand-friends of our kindergarten and fourth graders were able to come and enjoy lunch and some classroom time with their students. There was so much laughter and so many smiles, it was a nice way to end the students' week!

On this episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We find some of our second grade paraeducators busy helping our students continue to learn in these last remaining days of the school year. The students are learning about historical leaders who fought for a cause. Today's focus was on civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.
Be sure to tune in next week where we will be visiting our third and fourth grade paraeducators.

On today's episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We find some of our first grade paraeducators busy in the classrooms. Paras are able to not only help students one-on-one or in small groups, but are also able to help the teachers as well!
Tune in tomorrow where we will visit our second grade paras.
