We will be visiting Mr. Bates and his fourth grade students. Our fourth grade classrooms are the last classrooms we'll be visiting before we move on to witnessing all of the wonderful things our specialist teachers do here at Emerson!

Students in Mrs. Schuessler's class wasted no "time" getting back in the swing of things! This week students practiced telling time, and writing the time in correct format.

Students in Mrs. Schuessler's third grade class took time to do some self-evaluating. Her students had earlier taken a math quiz. The quiz was then graded and handed back to each student. Students were then able to self-reflect on whether they mastered each concept, or still needed to grow in their learning.

Recently at Emerson Elementary, 4th grade students experienced the unit "Eureka! Student Inventor." They studied famous inventors and the skills inventors need in order to be successful. They then became inventors themselves!
The CHS Cheerleaders surprised Emerson today! They helped the students clean their chair pockets, get new crayons, and passed out presents from Ms. Mohr. The 'Elves', as the kids called the cheerleaders, then got to sit down and color pictures together. What a great surprise for Ms. Mohr's kindergarteners!
Important reminders for students and parents:
12/19/24 - No Preschool, 12:00 pm (noon dismissal) K-12.
12/20/24- Holiday break begins. No school for preK-12.
1/7/25- First day of 3rd quarter or 2nd semester.
On today's episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We find Mrs. Mulder's class of third graders gobbling up knowledge! Actually, they are enjoying today's healthy fresh fruit & veggie snack: PINEAPPLE!!! On most days of the week, the school provides, as an option, either a fresh fruit or a vegetable snack to each student. Schools are able to do this based on a grant provided by the state.
Eyewitness Emerson will be off-air until after break. We hope you all enjoy your much deserved break, and we'll be back in the new year, 2025!!

We find Mrs. Mulder's third grade students asking "Can You Hear Me Now?!" as they learn about Alexander Graham Bell. Working in pairs, students read a story about Bell's life and all of his inventions. They then together worked on a comprehension worksheet.

Mrs. Mulder and her class of third graders are getting prepared; prepared for weather safety! Each student was asked to design and create and image and a slogan to promote weather safety. Some students chose tornado safety, others chose flood safety, and more chose thunderstorm safety. These creations will be sent in to the state for a chance to be featured in a weather safety calendar. We wish them all good luck!

On this episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We find Mrs. Retzlaff and her class of engineers, I mean second graders, constructing towers. Each student was given craft sticks, a ball of clay, and a ball of play-dough. Their job was to use the building materials to build a tower. Some were more successful than others, but everyone had fun working together and learning from each other!

Mrs. Retzlaff and her second grade class (along with the help of a few friends) had an elf'n good time during art today. Their classroom elf Teddy was a great help and inspiration!

We find the second grade students in Mrs. Retzlaff's class learning about important historical figures. The students were split into groups where they researched key figures in the War of 1812.

The epic conclusion of bridge building!!! It appears there may have some structural engineers in Mrs. Loosvelt's second grade class.
Also, these students have been very busy making their lists and checking them twice! They are writing letters to Santa, who will read those letters, and Zoom with the students next month.

On this episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
Mrs. Loosvelt and her crew of structural engineers, a.k.a. second graders, worked on designing and building bridges. The students were split into four groups where they then had to sketch and agree on a bridge design (either arch or beam). They then will work together as a team to make that bridge come to life.
