Columbus Middle School

The CMS MathCounts team competed in the Northeast Nebraska Chapter Competition held at Central Community College (Columbus) this past weekend. The team of Lucis, David, Jaden, and Jai took second place in the team competition. CMS was also well represented in the individual countdown round competition! Other CMS MathCounts members include: Charley, Ryan, and Jhettsun. The 2nd place finish qualifies the team to compete at the state competition held in Lincoln on March 22nd. Go, Discoverers!

Even when she is absent from school, Diana always gets her work caught up. Diana is polite, respectful and always has a smile on her face. She is a great example of what it means to be a Discoverer. On February 13, the 8th grade boys basketball team played against Schuyler. A and B team both won.

Our 8th-grade boys' basketball team played Scotus on Tuesday night. The C and B teams fought hard until the end but lost. The A team came out on top with a win over Scotus. Their final home game is Monday—make sure you go cheer them on! Go, Discoverers! 🏀

She’s helpful to her peers and teachers and follows the rules, making her a great example for her classmates. He has a great outlook on his world, asks for clarification on concepts, and always helps his peers. He completes his work and is helpful to his teachers as well. She stays on-task and gives her best effort. She makes the classroom a better and brighter place for everyone! Thanks, Aliyah! ⭐️Manuel is a kind and caring student who is always sweet to everyone around him. He stays on task and works hard to do his best. When he doesn’t understand something, he asks the teacher questions to make sure he succeeds. He is always one of the first ones on Boost at the beginning of WIN. His positive attitude and determination make him a great classmate!

Freshman Registration for current 8th-grade students and parents/guardians will be held at Columbus High School on Tuesday, February 11 and Thursday, February 13. Students with the last name A-K will attend with their parent/guardian on Tuesday, February 11 at 7:00 pm. Students with the last name L-Z will attend with their parent/guardian on Thursday, February 13 at 7:00 pm. Students and families will receive information on course registration, activities, and additional CHS information.

On January 31st, the student council hosted the 6th Grade Activity Night, where students had fun playing games and hanging out. Thank you to the student council for organizing this event!
