Learning and laughing together on their field trip! The Kindergarteners travelled to the Omaha Children's Museum for their end-of-the-year field trip. Thanks to the North Park PTO, the students were able to participate in a science lab, provided by the museum, to learn about weather. The students had so much fun making more memories together!

DRUM ROLL.... North Park's very own Allie Goering won the Educator of the Year award for CPS this morning!!! Educators can be nominated by fellow teachers, parents, students, and community members. We are SO proud of her and lucky to have her at North Park! The award was well deserved! Way to go Mrs. Goering!

Congratulations to our North Park Retirees! Thank you for all you've done for our students and our school family! You will be missed!

The Kindergarteners started their "10 day countdown" until summer on Tuesday. Each day, they are celebrating in an extra fun way all of their time together and how much they have grown this year. Today, they enjoyed having chalk and bubbles at recess.

To wrap up learning about community helpers, the Kindergarteners had a special visit from the Columbus Fire Department. The firefighters taught the students about what firefighters do, the importance of fire safety, and the different tools that they use to help save people. Our community sure is lucky to be filled with so many amazing community helpers!

On Thursday, the Kindergarten students continued learning about community helpers by traveling to a local farm. The students learned facts about what farmers do, what kinds of animals may live on a farm, what types of crops farmers may plant in Nebraska, and where our food comes from. The students even had the opportunity to touch and feed some animals. The students have been referring to this day as "the best day ever!"

The Kindergarteners had another community helper, a police officer, visit this morning. Officer Moore taught the students about what a police officer does, he showed them some tools that police officers may have to use, and he even gave a demonstration with one of the police department's drones. It was very exciting!

The Kindergarteners were extra lucky today because they had not one, but TWO, community helpers visit. After the police officer visited, the students had the special opportunity to meet their new principal for next year, Mrs. Bird. She told the students all about what a principal does, how principals support students, families, and staff members to help everyone work together, and she told them about how excited she is to be joining our North Park family. It was a great day!

The Kindergarteners are learning about community helpers this week! On Monday they had a local doctor, Dr. Rodehorst, come and talk to them about what a doctor does, the tools a doctor may use at their job, and the importance of seeing a doctor regularly.

During an indoor recess, 1st graders Sheyla and Alex teamed up to have a blast assembling a space puzzle after learning about outer space!

Columbus Community,
Please join us for the May 1st Community Meeting from 7-8 pm at the CHS Concert Hall. Dr. Kay will be providing updated growth data as new information has developed as well as suggestions that have been gathered to date from the community.

The 2nd annual North Park Easter Egg hunt was chilly, but everyone had fun!

Honoring Brooke!
At the start of the year, Mrs. Dodson presented an exciting challenge to the 4th graders: read and take tests on all 10 Golden Sower Nominees, and she would treat you to a pizza lunch!
Brooke embraced this challenge and today had a delightful outdoor lunch with Mrs. Dodson.
Way to go, Brooke! We're so proud of you for setting your sights high and achieving your goals!
Keep up the great reading!

Kindergarten has been learning about how people, plants, and animals change their environment. Today, we worked together to build an earthworm habitat. For the next week, students will observe the worms and take note of how the worms are changing their environment. Most students enjoyed touching the worms. Some students.. not so much! 😂

4th Grade Career Day was a hit again this year partnering with CCC here in Columbus. The 4th Graders in the whole district got to visit several of the buildings on the college campus and learn about career fields in Business, Marketing and Management, Human Sciences, Information Systems, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Skilled and Technical Sciences and Health Sciences. The students got to do some hands on learning in each of these career fields.

The kindergarteners LOVED having their Grandfriends visit them at school today. They played bingo, did an art project, ate lunch, and played at recess together! It was a "grand" start to the week!
